Dredging
Dave Schaffer dredging the Zambezi River

The VCFD Dredging Team has a combined 50+ years dredging rivers in Africa led by Dave Schaffer VFO of VCFD.

“Dredging the Zambezi Riverbed by Spirit of the River Zambia, a subsidiary of Spirit of the River International of Canada has resulted in the discovery of commercial diamonds in Western Zambia. The company has also discovered more than three kimberlite pipes in Zambia’s Western Province.”  – Dr. Wezi Chekwe

VCFD will select target sites for its river dredging operations in the D.R. Congo along the Mbuji Mayi river and other river sites with subsequent exploration.

River dredging operations in the DR Congo will produce  industrial and gem quality diamonds as well as other high value minerals.

Local Mbuji – Mayi operations dredging 4 to 5 tonnes per day.

VCFD will utilize state of the art dredging equipment, including  Eddy Pumps. They can pump objects up to 12 inches and dredge up to 100 tonnes per day.

The dredgers can pump the sand and sediment up to 1 km inland. This by-product can then be used in the production of bricks for constructing local buildings.

VCFD intends on securing world class dredging equipment including the Keene 8DX Nessie River Dredger.

The Keene Dredger is capable of 100 tonnes per hour.

Mining

Our target region is abundant in gem quality and industrial grade diamonds and gems, it is by all conservative estimates, producing in excess of 5,000 CRTs of gem quality diamonds and 25- 30,000 CRT’s of industrial grade diamonds on a monthly basis. This is being done by local artisan miners using archaic mining methods and out of date river dredging equipment. Coarse gold is also found in incredibly large quantities.

Sophisticated dredging equipment as well as and state of the art river mining vehicles and equipment being imported from North America by VCFD will not only increase production and worker safety, but it will also add incredible value to the local villages. The by-product (sand, gravel) produced by dredging barges will be sold directly to the local villages and local governments. The sand and gravel, along with equipment sold and donated by VCFD, will be used to make building blocks for housing, community buildings, and roads specifically in the surrounding mining areas. This will employ hundreds of men and women in the region, thus creating micro economies for the local people.
